Student Experience Overview

At Leigh UTC Dartford, we are proud to offer a rich and purposeful student experience that extends far beyond the classroom. Our aim is to create an inclusive, inspiring and supportive environment where every student can discover their passions, develop their confidence and thrive as part of a forward-thinking community.

Our intent is to enrich students’ time at the Leigh UTC Dartford by offering a diverse range of opportunities that are open for all students and go beyond the academic curriculum. These experiences aim to inspire, build confidence and support personal development.

We implement this through a  well-structured calendar of enrichment events including cultural, creative, academic and charitable activities. The modular extra-curricular timetable continues to expand, ensuring that every student has access to meaningful opportunities regardless of background or ability. 

The Student Voice Team leads termly charity events and primary school collaborations, while trips and visits such as Learning beyond the Curriculum (LBC) days, departmental excursions and guest speakers further extend students’ learning. 

Our structured rewards programme includes weekly assemblies, line-up recognition, termly celebration assemblies, the Modular Magazine, social media highlights and Leigh UTC Dartford Champions League.

 Sixth Form students give back to the school community through their weekly enrichment time, supporting clubs and younger students. We work collaboratively with staff, external providers and the wider community to ensure a diverse and inclusive offer, underpinned by continuous feedback from students, staff and parents.

This breadth of experiences has increased holistic student engagement, confidence and sense of belonging. There has been a clear rise in club participation, resilience and aspiration across the student body across the last three years. Feedback from surveys consistently shows that students feel happy and safe in school, and 100% of students have expressed enthusiasm for more trips. Our partnerships with external organisations continue to grow, with students engaging in opportunities such as Dartford Tigers, Boxing for Schools, the London Lions and the Kent Student Elections.
